The Information and Resource Referral Program assists clients by providing information, resources and referrals. We’re here to make life easier for individuals with disabilities by assisting with applications for disability, pensions and other types of arduous application processes. We know that applying for benefits and finding the right resources can feel overwhelming—that’s where we come in! Our friendly team is ready to guide you every step of the way, offering one-on-one support in person, over the phone, by email, or through video chat.

Applying for disability benefits can be complicated, but we're here to simplify it for you. We'll help you understand the differences between federal (CPPD) and provincial (PWD/PPMB) programs, assist with filling out applications, and support you through the appeal process, if needed.
Not sure where to start? Our office on Departure Bay Road has a wall full of brochures, pamphlets, and helpful guides. If you can't find what you're looking for, just ask! Our team is happy to point you in the right direction or connect you with the right resources.
Everyone's needs are different, so we offer one-on-one help tailored to your situation. Whether you need assistance with forms, have questions about programs, or just don't know where to turn, we're here for you. If we can't help directly, we'll do our best to connect you with someone who can.

Appointments are available most of the year to people who qualify for this valuable service. During tax season (March and April) we open from 9 AM to 3 PM Fridays and Saturdays. If you are already receiving Income Assistance (IA)
You can request the PWD application directly from the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction.

If you are NOT receiving Income Assistance (IA)
You must follow the steps below to obtain a PWD application form. There is no other way.
– BCeID (BC Electronic ID) is an online account used to access most social services in British Columbia.)
– Create one online (search “BCeID” on Google)
– Choose the BASIC BCeID (this is all you need and is the simplest option)
– There are three types: Personal, Business, Basic — choose BASIC
Important:
– Write down your User ID, password, and answers to the three security questions
– Keep this information safe (wallet or purse recommended)
– Clear cookies and cache before using your BCeID
– If you experience display issues, switch from Firefox to Google Chrome (recommended browser)
(MySelfServe)
MySelfServe is the provincial portal for Income Assistance and PWD applications.
You will need:
– An email address
– Your Social Insurance Number (SIN)
– Your BASIC BCeID
– Partner’s information, if applicable
Process:
– Search “MySelfServe” on Google
– Select “Create an Account”
– Complete the registration
– Start a Service Request for Income Assistance
– Complete and submit the 92-question SelfServe Assessment and Application
The questions include:
– Personal and biographical information
– Employment history
– Legal and residency status
Documents commonly required (basic cases):
– SIN card or proof of SIN from Service Canada
– Two additional pieces of ID (one must be photo ID)
– A recent photo of yourself
– Stamped bank statements for the last 60 days from all bank accounts
(must be printed at the bank, not online statements)
– Signed lease or rental receipt
– Bank profile forms for all banks

– “Do you intend to apply for Persons with Disabilities Designation?”

BC Services and Ministry offices can help explain questions but cannot submit information for you.
– Within 5-10 business days of your online submission, you will receive a phone call from an intake worker to book a phone interview with the Ministry.
– You may also be notified of other documents to submit to the ministry.
– At the end of the interview, you will need to ask for a PWD application (assuming that you qualify to apply), which you can receive in-person or through the mail.
I truly don’t know what I would have done without Allison. Her support emotionally, mentally, and financially, has alleviated the intense stress that I had weighing on me daily. She assisted me with applying for not only my Old Age Security pension, but also with the Government Income Supplement, and to help with my rent, she helped me apply for a housing supplement.
